Rosamund Pike
Born in
London, England in 1979, Rosamund Mary Elizabeth Pike was the only child of
Caroline (Friend) Pike, a classical violinist mom, as well as Julian Pike, an
opera singer dad. She spent her childhood travelling throughout Europe as a result
of the work of her parents. Pike went to Bristol's Badminton School and started
acting at the National Youth Theatre. In a National Youth Theatre production of
"Romeo and Juliet", she was first spotted and contracted by an agent,
although she continued to study in Wadham College, Oxford, where she studied
English Literature, eventually graduating with an upper second-class honors
degree.Pike has appeared in a variety of UK TV shows, including Wives and
Daughters (1999), before scoring an auspicious feature film debut as the
glacial beauty "Miranda Frost" in the James Bond film, Die Another
Day (2002); When the film came out at the age of 23, she was just 23. Her debut
film was a big-budget action flick. However, her subsequent film work was
primarily in independent films such as Promised Land (2004) and The Libertine
(2004). The Libertine won her the Best Supporting Actress award at The British
Independent Film Awards. Pride & Prejudice (2005) included Pike in the
role of one of the Bennet girls. A brief appearance in Hollywood film followed
with the action flick, Doom (2005) as well as the thriller Fracture (2007), but
she returned to smaller films with outstanding performance in three movies: An
Education (2009) as well as Made in Dagenham (2010) and the lead role with Paul
Giamatti in Barney's Version (2010).As she continued her stage work in England,
Pike appeared in the spy spoof, Johnny English Reborn (2011) and also played
the role as "Andromeda" in the sci-fi epic Wrath of the Titans
(2012). She returned to action-oriented films with her female lead in the film
Jack Reacher (2012). Tom Cruise in Jack Reacher (2012).
